Empowering Women Entrepreneurs towards Self-Reliance
Seema Devi, a resident of Mahmadpur, Jansa, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, faced financial challenges due to insufficient income flow for her family. Her husband was the only earning member of the family, working as a daily wager in Mumbai. However, her life took a positive turn when she came to know about the entrepreneurship training and support programs offered by Utkarsh Welfare Foundation through a Financial Awareness training conducted in her village.
Motivated to improve her financial situation, Seema attended the enterprise development training where she received specialized training in making disposable bowls and plates. With the guidance of a UWF field officer, she obtained her first loan to kickstart her business. Initially, she borrowed someone else’s machine for making the plates and bowls since she didn’t own one. As her business began to flourish, she secured a second loan and invested in purchasing her own machine. With a third loan and her savings, she expanded her operations by acquiring another machine, and setting up a total of two machines.
Seema is grateful to Utkarsh Welfare Foundation for the valuable assistance which was provided to her for establishing business and improving the family’s financial situation. Their support has not only empowered her as an entrepreneur but has also paved the way to economic independence.
