COVID – 19 Response Initiatives
During the COVID - 19 pandemic, Utkarsh Welfare Foundation actively engaged in relief work and supported various initiatives to address the needs of affected individuals and communities. Here are some of the key COVID relief activities carried out by the Foundation:
Relief Work at ESI Hospital, Varanasi
The Foundation conducted relief work at ESIC Hospital in Varanasi, providing refreshments and snacks to visitors who were undergoing COVID check-ups. This initiative aimed to offer support and comfort to those visiting the hospital during a challenging time.
Support to Labourers and Stranded Population on Highways
Recognizing the plight of stranded migrant workers and vulnerable populations on highways, the Foundation distributed essential food supplies to provide immediate relief. These distributions included essential foods to migrants and other stranded individuals, ensuring they had access to basic sustenance during their journey.
Support at Quarantine Centers in Villages
The Foundation actively engaged in supporting individuals placed in quarantine centers in select villages, which were identified under the Village Development Program (VDP). Daily food and snack supplies were provided to around 200 migrants who were quarantined at these centers after COVID-19 check-ups by the local administration. This initiative aimed to ensure the well-being of individuals in quarantine and support their recovery.
Support to COVID-Affected Families
The Foundation extended support to landless and marginalized families affected by COVID-19 by providing one month's ration supply. These families were selected in consultation with the Gram Panchayat and underwent Utkarsh Welfare Foundation's due diligence process. This initiative aimed to alleviate the economic burden faced by vulnerable families during the pandemic.
In addition to the relief activities, the Foundation also prioritized mask distribution and COVID awareness campaigns. Masks were distributed to MGNREGA workers in VDP villages while raising awareness about social distancing and hygiene precautions. Furthermore, the Foundation provided financial support to the Indian Red Cross Society in Varanasi to assist in their relief activities, contributing ₹50 lakh to fight the challenges posed by the pandemic.
These COVID relief initiatives reflect Utkarsh Welfare Foundation's commitment to supporting individuals and communities during times of crisis. By providing essential supplies, refreshments, and support to various institutions and vulnerable populations, the Foundation aimed to alleviate suffering and contribute to the overall well-being of those affected by the pandemic.
