Health Initiatives

Utkarsh Welfare Foundation has been undertaking Health Initiatives since its inception to provide primary healthcare services in remote geographies to the underserved population. UWF has devised and implemented various programs to help address the public health challenges and support efforts to improve access to healthcare and healthcare services, particularly in vulnerable populations. The initiatives under health have been strategized in a way that the emphasis is on both preventive as well as curative healthcare. Initiatives undertaken by the Foundation within the thematic area of Health are as under:

E-Clinics
E-Clinics

The E-clinics were initially established as a response to the challenges faced during the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly in reaching remote areas. As we continue to set-up more E-clinics, we utilize technology to bridge the gap between healthcare providers and patients. Qualified M.B.B.S. doctors conduct virtual consultations with patients via video calls, ensuring that they receive professional primary healthcare services. Following the consultation, the prescribed medicines are provided to the patients at no cost. This initiative has greatly improved access to healthcare in remote areas and has been especially beneficial during times when physical access to healthcare facilities was restricted due to non-movement and limited too in reach.

Swasthya Mitra
Swasthya Mitra

The Swasthya Mitra model caters specifically to the geographical terrain of mountainous regions, such as the hilly areas of Almora. Swasthya Mitras are qualified healthcare professionals who travel within these mountainous villages to provide primary healthcare consultations and medicines to the rural population. They act as a crucial link between the communities and formal healthcare services, ensuring that even those residing in remote areas can access essential healthcare services. The provision of free healthcare consultations and medicines eliminates financial barriers and promotes the well-being of the underserved population in these regions.

Polyclinic Camps / Special Health Camps
Polyclinic Camps / Special Health Camps

In areas where access to primary healthcare services is limited, Utkarsh Welfare Foundation organizes Polyclinic Camps and Special Health Camps. These camps are set up in remote rural geographies to provide free doctor consultations and medicines to the local population. Qualified healthcare professionals, including doctors and medical staff, are present at these camps to address the healthcare needs of the community. These initiatives not only provide much-needed healthcare services to underserved areas but also raise awareness about the importance of regular check-ups and preventive healthcare measures.

Health Infrastructure Support
Health Infrastructure Support

Utkarsh Welfare Foundation recognizes the significance of well-equipped health infrastructure in providing quality healthcare services. In collaboration with local government and charitable hospitals, the Foundation supports for improvement of the health infrastructure by providing need-based health equipment. This includes medical devices, diagnostic tools, and other essential equipment required for accurate diagnosis and effective treatment. By strengthening the health infrastructure, the Foundation aims to enhance the capacity of healthcare facilities to cater to the needs of the rural communities more efficiently.

Health Awareness Training Camps
Health Awareness Training

Prevention plays a vital role in promoting overall well-being. Utkarsh Welfare Foundation conducts Health Awareness Training programs for the rural population, focusing on various aspects of good health and well-being. These training sessions cover topics such as sanitation and hygiene practices, seasonal diseases, their symptoms, and preventive measures, menstrual health management, and the importance of health insurance. By imparting knowledge and raising awareness, the Foundation empowers individuals and communities to make informed decisions regarding their health, adopt healthier lifestyles, and prevent the onset of diseases.

These initiatives collectively contribute to improving access to healthcare, promoting preventive measures, and addressing the healthcare needs of underserved populations. Utkarsh Welfare Foundation's comprehensive approach to health encompasses both curative and preventive aspects, ensuring that individuals and communities receive the necessary support to lead healthier lives.
